Prior
to the core program of skill development for
specific sports, ADI offers basic athletic and
sport skills instruction to our younger participants. All
ages can enjoy sports and advance developmentally
through fun activities that stress the proper
form of running, jumping, throwing, hitting,
catching and kicking. These skills can
lay the foundation for your child to pursue sports
in the future or might just lead them into a
healthy lifestyle outside of sports.
We offer a variety of activities for pre-teen youth to make sure they have the
opportunity to try everything. Younger children need to explore their options
and learn about all sports before committing to one and possibly burning out. Doing
a variety of activities also avoids overuse injuries that can occur from playing
the same sport all year round.
There is substantial evidence to question the immersion of pre-teen youth in
competitive environments where they have not yet developed the emotional capacity
to deal with the winning, losing and tension associated with competitive sports. The
current structure in organized sports has 75% of all athletes quitting prior
to high school. Our program avoids these dangers by creating a non-competitive,
explorative environment for children to try new things and advance developmentally.
