Sports Nutrition

Like adults, young athletes need adequate nutrition to maintain health to optimize performance. During the formative years, nutritional intake must also provide adequate nutrients for physical growth and development in addition to fueling the body for sports performance.

Over recent years there has been a growing interest in sports nutrition with a significant level of false and misleading information being communicated to athletes and parents.  The increased sales of vitamins, minerals, sports drinks and prohormones have been accompanied by mixed messages concerning their usage and benefits.

Athletes, parents, coaches, team physicians and athletic trainers should become aware of the potential benefits and dangers of using these readily available products as well as a sensible approach to eating for sports participation and a healthy lifestyle.

ADI Faculty present group and private sessions to educate student athletes about the importance of proper eating habits and integrating a successful meal plan surrounding training and competition.
